Eating Out

Temuka is a small town and the eating-out scene is correspondingly modest. King Street has a handful of cafés serving New Zealand brunch staples — eggs benedict, scones with jam and cream, decent flat whites — and a couple of pubs offering bistro meals (steak, fish and chips, lamb shanks) in the evenings. For more variety, the bigger town of Timaru, 15 minutes south, has a more developed restaurant scene including South Canterbury salmon and locally grown vegetables.
