By Road — Temuka sits on State Highway 1, the main north-south route through the South Island. It is 15 minutes north of Timaru, 90 minutes south of Christchurch, and about 4 hours north of Dunedin. Hire-car drivers find Temuka an easy stopover.
By Bus — Inter-city coaches running between Christchurch and Queenstown stop in Timaru; from there, local services run the short distance to Temuka. There is no longer a passenger rail service on the South Island main trunk.
By Air — The nearest airport is at Timaru (Richard Pearse Airport — named after the local aviator), with limited regional flights. Christchurch Airport, with international and many domestic connections, is about 90 minutes by car.
