Auckland's drinking scene clusters around a handful of precincts. The Viaduct Harbour has the most concentrated strip of bars with harbour views, and is usually the busiest. Ponsonby Road has a more neighbourhood feel — cafe by day, cocktail bar by night — and attracts a slightly older, more local crowd. Karangahape Road (K'Road) is where you go for something grittier: dive bars, live music venues, and the city's best late-night options. Britomart, in the old train station precinct, is polished and suited to craft beer and wine bars.
