Auckland rewards those who look beyond the CBD. The volcanic cones, the harbour, and the neighbourhoods each offer a different side of the city. The Sky Tower is the obvious starting point — take the lift up on arrival to orient yourself — but the best of Auckland is at ground level: wandering Ponsonby Road, climbing Mount Eden at dusk, or taking the ferry across the harbour to Devonport.
