A reinforced concrete lighthouse on the southern tip of the island, built by the Japanese before the war and used as an observation post during the battle. The exterior is still pock-marked from American shelling, and you can climb the internal staircase to the top for views across the southern reefs and out to the smaller Rock Islands beyond.
Reached by a short jungle track from the southern coastal road. Bring a torch for the staircase.
