Gorica is the Christian quarter on the far bank of the Osum River, reached by the 18th-century Gorica Bridge — a graceful stone span that is one of the symbols of the town. The neighbourhood is quieter and less visited than Mangalem and has a slightly different character: older, more Ottoman in feel, with a mix of residential houses and small churches tucked among orchards and garden plots.
The quarter has several Byzantine churches worth finding, including the Church of the Holy Trinity, which has a fine carved wooden iconostasis. The views back across the river toward Mangalem and the castle are among the best in Berat — the classic shot of the "thousand windows" houses is taken from the Gorica side. The neighbourhood has fewer facilities than the town centre, but evening light turns the river and castle walls golden and the walk across the bridge and back is one of the pleasures of a stay in Berat.
