National Museum of Education

A small but historically important museum housed in the original Mësonjëtorja — the first school to teach in the Albanian language, founded in 1887. The building itself is the main exhibit: restored classrooms with period desks, blackboards, and didactic materials.

Albanians treat this as something close to a national shrine; the founding of Mësonjëtorja is taught as a foundational moment in the national awakening (Rilindja). The displays explain the political risk involved and the role Korçë played as the centre of Albanian-language education through the 19th and early 20th centuries.

A story
The museum occupies the original 1887 building of Mësonjëtorja, the first school in the Albanian language. Until that year, schooling in Ottoman Albania was conducted in Greek, Turkish, or Italian — opening an Albanian-language school was a political act, and the building was raided by Ottoman authorities within months of opening.
