Pogradec is connected to Korçë (about 30 km to the south) and Elbasan (about 90 km to the northwest) by road. Buses run between Pogradec and Tirana via Elbasan several times a day — the journey takes about three hours. Furgons (shared minivans) are the most common form of transport and run more frequently than buses on the Korçë and Elbasan routes.
From North Macedonia, the border crossing at Qafa e Thanës (Lin crossing) is the main route, connecting Pogradec to Struga and then Ohrid on the Macedonian side. The crossing is straightforward for EU and most Western passport holders. The drive from Ohrid city on the Macedonian side to Pogradec is about 40 kilometres and takes about an hour.
