Shebenik-Jabllanice National Park covers the mountain country east of Lake Ohrid, along Albania's border with North Macedonia. It is a landscape of beech forest, glacial lakes, high pastures, and villages that still feel far from the resort rhythm of Pogradec's lakefront.
The park is best for travellers with their own transport, a local driver, or a hiking plan arranged in advance. Trails and signage are improving but not foolproof, and weather can change quickly in the high country. The reward is a wilder Albania than most people see from the coast or the main lake towns.
