Poloz Mukuch Beerhouse

Legendary beerhouse and restaurant with a reputation that reaches across Armenia

Poloz Mukuch is one of those places that has become genuinely famous without trying — a large, loud, crowded restaurant and beerhouse that serves Armenian food and cold draught beer in a setting that has not changed much in decades. The name means "Wise Mukuch," a reference to a fictional folk character, and the place has cultivated a deliberately un-fancy atmosphere: long communal tables, enthusiastic noise, and food that arrives in large portions.

The menu runs to the usual Armenian standards — khorovats (grilled meat), tolma, lavash, and a variety of salads — but the execution is reliable and the portions generous. For a city with limited tourist infrastructure, Poloz Mukuch functions as an unofficial gathering point: you are likely to share a table with a mix of locals, domestic tourists from Yerevan, and the occasional foreign visitor who has sought it out.
