Gyumri's historic centre is compact and best explored on foot. The main draws are the churches — seven in total, spanning Armenian Apostolic, Catholic, Greek, and Russian traditions — and the restored 19th-century streetscape around Vartanants Square. The city also has a handful of small museums and a lively central market.
