Freedom Square, also called Theatrical Square, is the open space beside Yerevan Opera Theatre. It links the Opera, Swan Lake, Northern Avenue, and the cafe-filled parkland around them, so you will probably cross it more than once while walking through Kentron.
The square is at its best in the evening, when people drift between the cafes, the theatre, and the surrounding promenades. It works less as a monument than as one of central Yerevan's everyday meeting places.
