Saryan Museum

Small museum dedicated to Armenia's most celebrated painter, Martiros Saryan

Address 3 Saryan Street, Yerevan

The Saryan Museum is housed in the former studio of Martiros Saryan (1880–1972), Armenia's most celebrated painter. Saryan is best known for his vivid, sun-saturated landscapes of Armenia, Egypt, and Persia — the colours are almost shockingly bold compared to the European tradition of his era.

The collection includes paintings, sketches, and personal belongings, and the studio has been kept much as it was during his lifetime. It is a small museum that rewards a slow visit: there is usually not a crowd, and the works feel intimate at this scale.
