An open-air weekend market running alongside the park between Republic Square and Republic Stadium, packed with stalls selling carpets, silver, woodcarvings, old Soviet medals and cameras, paintings, hand-knotted lace, and the obsidian and pomegranate trinkets that have become Armenian visual shorthand. It is touristy but also genuinely good — many of the carvers, jewellers, and painters work the stalls themselves, so you are often buying directly from the maker.
Open Saturdays and Sundays from morning to late afternoon. Bargaining is expected; the quoted price is rarely the final price. Bring small bills in Armenian dram.
