Tucked behind the City Hall, this is the museum of the city of Yerevan itself — distinct from the much larger History Museum of Armenia on Republic Square. The displays cover Yerevan from the Urartian period through the medieval khanate, the Russian imperial era, and the 20th-century Soviet city, with old photographs, costumes, shopfront fittings, and the kind of small daily-life objects (samovars, hookahs, gramophones) that bigger museums rarely show.
It is small and quirky, but a useful corrective to the grand-narrative version of Armenian history. Good for an hour. Closed Mondays.
