The local museum is housed in the handsome Villa Trier, a 1912 wooden hunting lodge on the edge of St. Anton. The collection covers the history of Alpine skiing — equipment from the wooden ski era, archive photographs of Hannes Schneider and the first Arlberg ski school, race trophies, and a section on the development of lift technology.
The museum is small and unfussy and is open year-round; in winter the in-house Museum-Restaurant is one of the better dinner options in St. Anton, with proper Tyrolean cooking in a cosy panelled room. Worth half an hour for anyone interested in the history of the sport — or as a refuge on a stormy day.
