Burgkircherl Gossam is a small Romanesque chapel built around 1100 as part of a fortified site above the Danube valley. The castle is now ruined, but the chapel remains open to visitors and keeps the feel of an early medieval defensive church.
It is a quiet side stop near Melk, best combined with the abbey, the Danube cycle route, or the villages across the river.
