Wachberg

Wachberg is the low hill on the eastern edge of Melk, rising high enough to give a fine view back over Melk Abbey, the town, and the Danube valley. It is a simple stop rather than a major sight, but it helps make sense of how the abbey dominates the river bend.

Go on foot if you have time after visiting the abbey. The view is the reason to come, so save it for clear weather.
