Getting There

Shusha is accessible from Baku via road, a journey of approximately 4–5 hours along the new Lachin corridor road through the Karabakh region. Private car or organised tour is the most practical option; there is no regular public transport from Baku to Shusha.

Access to the Karabakh region requires advance registration with Azerbaijani authorities. The requirements and procedures have changed since the region returned to Azerbaijani control in 2020 and have continued to evolve; check the current rules before travelling. Travel on the Lachin corridor road passes through sensitive territory — follow local guidance and stay on established routes.

Visitors from outside Azerbaijan typically travel as part of an organised tour from Baku, which handles the registration and logistics. Independent travel is possible but requires more preparation.
