Bastogne Barracks

Wartime barracks and vehicle collection tied to the Battle of the Bulge

Bastogne Barracks is one of the strongest Second World War sites in town because it is not only a display space. The barracks served as the headquarters of General Anthony McAuliffe during the siege of Bastogne, the episode behind the famous "Nuts!" reply to the German surrender demand.

Today the site combines historic rooms with a substantial collection of military vehicles. It makes the most sense alongside the Bastogne War Museum and Mardasson Memorial: the museum gives the wider story, while the barracks put you in a working military setting from the battle itself.
