Fort de Loncin is one of the forts built to defend Liège in the late 19th century. It was destroyed by German heavy artillery in 1914, early in the First World War, and the ruined fort now stands as both a museum and a memorial.
The site is best for travellers interested in military history: you can see the remains of the fortifications and get a clear sense of how quickly modern artillery changed warfare.
