Collegiate Church of Saint Vincent

The Collegiate Church of Saint Vincent is the reason most people come to Soignies, and it fully earns the detour. Built between the 10th and 11th centuries, it is one of the best-preserved Romanesque churches in Belgium — thick cylindrical pillars, round arches, a nave of extraordinary proportions, and virtually no later Gothic or Baroque intrusion. The interior is cool, dim, and austere in the best possible way. The westwork — the massive two-towered facade — dates to around 965 and is among the oldest surviving Romanesque structures in the region.

The church treasury, housed in an adjoining room, contains medieval reliquaries and liturgical objects that give a sense of the church's former importance as a pilgrimage site.
