Soignies punches well above its size for a small Walloon town. The Collegiate Church of St. Vincent alone justifies the trip — it is one of the most complete and least altered Romanesque churches in the entire country. Beyond the church, the Grand Place makes for a pleasant hour of wandering, and the quarry heritage of the surrounding countryside is genuinely interesting if you want to understand where all that blue-grey stone in Belgian buildings actually comes from.
