Restoran Kazamat

Old-town restaurant set in the Ottoman casemates of the city walls

The most atmospheric restaurant in Trebinje, occupying the vaulted brick kazamati (casemates) built into the inner side of the old-town walls. The dining room is half-underground; in summer the tables move out into a small adjoining courtyard. The cooking is straightforward Herzegovinian — grilled lamb, veal under the bell (slow-cooked under a metal lid), a respectable selection of grilled fish from the Adriatic.

The wine list focuses on local Tvrdoš and Vukoje wines and a handful of Mostar reds. About €20–30 a head with wine — good value by Adriatic-coast standards. Booking advisable at weekends; bring a layer in the cooler months because the casemates are cool even in summer.
