Biokovo Nature Park

Limestone mountain park rising 1762m straight from the sea

The Biokovo massif rises almost straight from the Makarska Riviera, with the summit of Sveti Jure at 1,762 metres only six kilometres inland. The Nature Park covers the upper slopes and ridges, with hiking trails of varied difficulty, a botanical garden at Kotišina, and the road that climbs to the Skywalk and the summit antenna. The karst landscape is striking — bare limestone above the tree line, with dramatic sinkholes and caves.

For walkers, the main trails leave from Vošac, with the most committed full-day route running ridge-to-ridge to Sveti Jure. For drivers, the park road is itself one of the great drives in Croatia. Park entry is by ticket; check the current rates at the visitor centre on the way up.
