Church of St Mark

Baroque parish church on Kačić Square

The Church of St Mark (Crkva svetog Marka) is the parish church of Makarska, an 18th-century baroque building dominating Kačić Square. The Venetian-influenced facade and the bell tower are the focal point of the old town. Inside, the marble altars and a notable wooden crucifix attributed to the workshop of Andrija Bulić are the highlights.

The church is open most days outside services. The square in front fills with tables from the surrounding restaurants in the evening, making it the social centre of Makarska after dark.
