About 13 km south of Opatija, Mošćenička Draga has the most substantial sandy beach on the Riviera — a long gentle bay with shallow entry that is particularly good for children. The village has a handful of restaurants and a very different pace from the resort bustle of Opatija itself. Reachable by bus (the Rijeka–Lovran service stops here) or by car in about 20 minutes. From above the village, the medieval hill town of Mošćenice looks down from a dramatic crag — worth the short climb for the views.
