The Museum of Fine Arts holds Osijek's main collection of paintings and sculptures, with works spanning from the 18th century to contemporary Croatian and Yugoslav art. The collection is particularly strong on Slavonian artists and the Croatian Modernist movement of the early 20th century. There are also Old Master paintings acquired over the centuries by the city and regional institutions.
The museum is housed in a neo-baroque building near the main commercial street. It is not a grand institution, but the quality of the Croatian modernist collection — mostly unknown outside Croatia — is genuinely interesting, and the building itself is attractive. Closed Mondays.
