Osijek's zoo, on the western bank of the Drava, is one of the better maintained in Croatia. The grounds are part of a larger riverside park and are genuinely pleasant to walk through — mature trees, a small lake, and exhibits covering mammals, birds, and reptiles. The zoo's position on the river, with views across to the wetlands toward Kopački Rit, gives it an unusual sense of connection to the wider natural landscape.
