Masné Krámy (the Meat Shops) occupies a Gothic hall on the main square that served as the town's meat market from the 16th century. The building has been a restaurant for decades and the setting — vaulted stone ceilings, heavy wooden furniture — is genuinely distinctive. The menu focuses on Czech meat dishes: pork knee, roast duck, game in season, and the obligatory svíčková (sirloin in cream sauce with bread dumplings).
The kitchen is consistent and portions are generous. It is a little more expensive than the basic beer halls but not by much, and the historic room is worth the small premium. A reasonable wine list supplements the Czech beer selection.
