The old town is compact and entirely walkable. All the main sights — the main square, the Black Tower, the Cathedral, the Dominican Monastery — are within ten minutes of each other on foot.
The city has a tram and bus network run by DPMCB. Tram line 2 runs from the train station through the centre out to the northern suburbs where the Budvar Brewery is located — the most useful line for visitors. Tickets are cheap and available from machines at stops or on board.
Cycling is a pleasant way to explore further. The flat South Bohemian countryside is well suited to it, and the riverside path along the Vltava connects the town to several quiet villages. Bikes can be rented from several shops near the centre.
