Getting There

České Budějovice is well connected by rail and road. The main train station is about 1.5 kilometres east of the old town centre, with regular direct services to Prague (roughly 2.5 hours), Vienna (3 hours), and Linz in Austria (1.5 hours). The Prague connection is fast, frequent and cheap — the best way to arrive from the capital.

By bus, Student Agency and RegioJet run comfortable express coaches to and from Prague, often faster than the train. The bus station is immediately adjacent to the railway station.

By car, the city sits on the E55 motorway connecting Prague southward to Linz and Vienna. The drive from Prague takes about 1.5 hours on the motorway.

České Budějovice Airport handles a small number of seasonal charter flights, mainly to Mediterranean beach destinations. For most international visitors, Prague is the practical arrival point.
