Town Hall Tower

Climb 200 steps for the best view in the old town

The Renaissance town hall in the middle of Horní náměstí dates from the 15th century, with its current form set in the 1530s. Set into its north wall is the famous Astronomical Clock, repainted by communist-era socialist realists. The 75-metre tower is open to visitors — about 200 steps to the top.

The view from the gallery covers the whole old town, the cathedral hill, and out toward the gentle Hanákovsko countryside. Inside the town hall itself a small museum tells the story of Olomouc's days as the Moravian capital, with guided tours by request.
