Bars and Cafes

Olomouc is a university town — around 20,000 students at Palacký University and other schools — and the drinking scene reflects that. Cheap Czech lagers, late closing times, and a string of student pubs around the old town.

Moritz is the city's most loved microbrewery, with a brick-vaulted cellar and its own unfiltered lager; Drápal has been pouring Plzeňský Prazdroj on tap for nearly a century and is the place to go for old-school Czech pub atmosphere. U Václava on the cathedral hill is a quieter option with one of the best beer gardens in town. For something genuinely strange, drink inside an actual grounded Soviet jetliner at the Letka Tu-104 bar on the city's eastern edge.
