Cirkuskroen — the Circus Pub — is one of the most singular bars in Aarhus. The interior is covered floor-to-ceiling with over 1,300 clown figurines: china clowns, stuffed clowns, painted clowns, porcelain clowns in glass cases and on shelves and hanging from the ceiling. The collection was built up over decades by a former owner and gives the place an atmosphere that is either delightfully eccentric or deeply unsettling, depending on your feelings about clowns.
The beer is good and reasonably priced, the crowd tends toward older locals, and the space is genuinely unique. It's in the Latin Quarter, a short walk from the cathedral.
