Aarhus has good beaches within easy reach of the city centre. The Bellevue and Den Permanente beaches south of the harbour are the most popular — sandy, clean, and reachable by bike in about 15 minutes. In summer, locals bring barbecues and stay until sunset. The beaches north of the city around Risskov are quieter and backed by forest.
