Tivoli Friheden is a pleasure garden and amusement park in the southern part of Aarhus, smaller and more relaxed than Copenhagen's famous Tivoli but similar in character: gardens, rides, open-air stages, and cafes arranged in a wooded park setting. Founded in 1903, it has a summer season running from April to September and a separate Christmas market in December.
The park is a good option for an afternoon out of the city centre, especially with children. The rides range from gentle carousels to a few more serious attractions; the summer concerts draw good Danish and international acts. The grounds themselves are pleasant to walk around even if you're not interested in the rides.
