Voderup Klint

Voderup Klint on Ærø's south coast is the island's most dramatic landscape. The clay cliffs have collapsed repeatedly over the centuries, creating wide stepped meadows where you can walk down toward the sea on natural terraces. The lower terrace is grazed by cows in summer and ends at a pebbly beach.

The site is part of a Natura 2000 protected area and is rich in wildflowers — orchids, cowslips, harebells — and bird life. A small car park sits at the top, with a clear path down. Allow an hour to walk down, along the beach, and back up. On a clear day the view stretches across the Baltic toward the island of Als and the German coast.

A story
Voderup's cliffs are slowly sliding into the sea — landslips have created three giant terraces of grassland stepping down toward the water. The wildflowers that grow on them, undisturbed by ploughs, include orchids and rare butterflies.
