The Experimentarium in Hellerup, north of the centre, is Denmark's science centre — a large interactive museum aimed at children but engaging enough for adults. The collection of hands-on experiments covers physics, biology, technology, and the human body. The building itself, a converted Tuborg brewery, was spectacularly renovated in 2017 and won several architectural awards.
Take the S-train to Hellerup — it's about 15 minutes from Central Station. The museum works best with children aged 5 to 15, but the science content is serious enough for adults. The top-floor sections on the human brain and body are particularly well done. Allow half a day and budget for the restaurant inside, which is better than standard museum food.
