Ølsemagle Revle is the wild side of Køge Bay: a long, low sandbar with beach on one side and lagoon, reeds, and resting birds on the other. It sits north of Køge town and works best as a slow nature outing rather than a conventional seaside stop.
Birdwatchers should head for the bird tower near the end of Revlen, where ducks, waders, and migrating birds use the protected wetland around the lagoon. Access rules vary by season to protect breeding birds, so pay attention to local signs and keep dogs leashed where required. Even if you are not carrying binoculars, the mix of sand, wind, water, and open sky makes it a good break from Køge's old streets.
