Land of Legends Lejre is an open-air history park west of Roskilde, built around reconstructed settlements from Denmark's deep past. You can walk between an Iron Age village, a Stone Age camp, a Viking market, a 19th-century farm, and small cottages, with the scale and materials making the past feel less abstract than it does behind glass.
It works especially well for families, but adults interested in archaeology and everyday history will also get plenty from it. Come with time to wander rather than treating it as a quick museum stop.
