Kihnu Lighthouse

The lighthouse stands at the southern tip of the island and was prefabricated in England by the Porter Brothers foundry in 1864 — a cast-iron tower shipped to the Baltic in pieces and bolted together on site. It is one of the few surviving cast-iron lighthouses in Estonia and still operates.

The walk or cycle ride down the southern coast road is part of the appeal. The light keeper's cottage next to the tower has been turned into a small visitor space, and in summer the tower itself can usually be climbed for a wide view across the Gulf of Riga.
