Kuressaare has a handful of good bars and cafes concentrated around the central square and the streets leading to the castle. The pace is slow and the evenings are relaxed — this is a small town and it drinks like one. In summer the outdoor terraces fill up with visitors and locals alike; in winter the same places contract into warm, dimly-lit rooms.
