Resurrection Cathedral

Neo-Byzantine Orthodox cathedral built for Narva's factory workers.

The Resurrection of Christ Orthodox Cathedral was built in the 1890s for the Orthodox workers of Kreenholm. Its red-brick Neo-Byzantine forms are a reminder that Narva's industrial boom was tied to the Russian Empire, not just to Estonia's later national story.

Inside, the cathedral has a three-part iconostasis and an active congregation. It is one of the more atmospheric stops south of the centre, especially when combined with Alexander Cathedral and Kreenholm. Dress respectfully and be prepared for limited visitor hours.
