Mariehamn Museum is a compact city museum centred on a large model of Mariehamn as it looked in the 1920s, when wooden houses and maritime trade shaped the town. It gives useful background on the design and growth of Åland's capital.
The museum also hosts art displays, so it works best as a short cultural stop while walking between the town centre and the harbour museums.
