Paateri Church is a small wooden church completed in 1991 and designed by sculptor Eva Ryynanen. Its carved interior and unusual form make it feel closer to a work of folk art than a conventional village church.
Visitors usually combine it with Ryynanen's atelier, which gives useful context for the church and the sculptural style behind it. The site is outside central Lieksa, so it works best for travellers with a car.
