Kakskerta is one of Turku's island districts, south of the centre and already beginning to feel like the archipelago. Lakes, forest, summer houses and quiet roads make it a useful change of pace from the cathedral-and-castle city.
It is best explored by bike, car or local bus with time to wander rather than as a single pinpoint sight. The appeal is the transition: urban Turku loosening into water, trees and the island rhythm that defines southwest Finland.
