Bars and Cafes

Lyon drinks well. The city has a strong café culture, a tradition of Beaujolais consumption (most of France's Beaujolais production passes through Lyon on its way south, and locals get first pick), and a growing bar scene concentrated in the Vieux Lyon, Croix-Rousse, and Guillotière neighbourhoods. The Quai de Bondy and Quai Pierre-Scize along the Saône bank have summer terraces that are among the most pleasant places to drink outdoors in France. For nightlife, the clubs are mostly in the Guillotière area on the east bank of the Rhône, near the Université Lyon 2.
