A spectacular glass-and-steel "crystal cloud" designed by Coop Himmelb(l)au, opened in 2014 at the southern tip of the Presqu'île where the Rhône and Saône finally meet. Inside is a sweeping anthropological and natural history museum that tries to tell the story of the world in four acts — origins, species, societies, the eternal. The building alone is worth the trip.
