Amphitheatre des Trois Gaules

Roman amphitheatre ruins tied to Lyon's early Christian martyrs.

The Amphitheatre des Trois Gaules is one of Lyon's Roman survivals, tucked below Croix-Rousse rather than displayed as grandly as the theatres on Fourviere. It is remembered as the place where the first Christian martyrs of Gaul were killed in the 2nd century.

Only part of the amphitheatre is visible today, but the site adds an older, rougher layer to a walk between Croix-Rousse and the Presqu'ile. It is best treated as a short historical stop, not a full archaeological visit.
